Ants are the most fascinating tiny creatures.  Did you know….

All worker, soldier and queen ants are female.  The sole purpose of a male ant in life is to mate and shortly after mating it will die.  Ants started farming 50 million years before humans, and they also barter services for food.  The average black garden ant has a lifespan longer than the average dog. (15 years).  Ants can lift up to 50 times their own body weight.  They don't have lungs, ears or blood, but have two stomachs - one to feed themselves and the second to feed others.  Ants are enslavers - They often kidnap ants from other colonies and force them to do their work.  Ants can create super brains - they can come together as huge groups and use their intellect as a whole. Freaky.  Speaking of freaky - Forget human zombies, ant zombies actually exist! This is caused by a type of fungus that infects the ants and takes control of them. Luckily, ants can sense this and often kill the infected colony member.

Lucky this cute little ant on it's leaf is not a zombie ant.  It has loads of charm and character and will be at home in the garden, pot plant or inside too.
