Flower - Poppy on Stake - Metal Art - Raw Finish - Small 100mm Wide

There are 120 different varieties of poppies.  The paper-like blossoms and vibrant colours of the poppy flower have been gracing flowerbeds and fields for centuries.  In history poppies played a significant role in ancient Greek mythology and medicine and poppies have been found in Egyptian tombs.  Today, poppy seeds are in seasonings, oils and found sprinkled over breads and bagels.  Opium from which morphine, heroin, codeine, and papaverine are derived, comes from the milky latex in the unripe seed capsule of the opium poppy.   The poppy is also the enduring symbol of remembrance of the First World War.  Poppies are a very versatile, special and important little flower indeed! 

You can enjoy some poppies all year round with our rustic single stem poppies.  Place one or two in a pot with some greenery (as per picture) or for a modern naïve display purchase a few poppies and put them in a simple vase or container with some naturally dried stems and branches. Very on-trend.
